From Former School Furniture and Computers to New Opportunities
Sometimes, education begins with something that has already fulfilled its purpose elsewhere—and culminates in radiant smiles on another continent.
The furniture and computers that no longer met the demanding requirements of daily vocational education at our school have found a new home in Sierra Leone. Thanks to the outstanding collaboration with the Lamin and Kadie Bah Foundation and the support of numerous dedicated partners, the equipment arrived safely and has now been successfully installed on site.
The photographs of students enthusiastically using their new learning spaces provide a powerful reminder that sustainability and education go hand in hand. What may no longer be the ideal solution in one context can open up entirely new opportunities and perspectives in another.
We are therefore especially delighted that this initiative has been honoured with first prize in the “W.I.R. machen Schule” competition. We regard this award as recognition of everyone involved in the project and of the values it represents: social responsibility in action, international solidarity, and a commitment to sustainable educational development.
Our sincere thanks go to all those who contributed to making this project possible. Yet the greatest reward remains the bright eyes and genuine excitement of the children and young people in Sierra Leone—an inspiring reminder of the transformative power of education and shared responsibility.
