Company visit at Lufthansa Technik
Yesterday, our class VS 28/3 from the Vocational Grammar School visited Lufthansa Technik AG.
After successful registration, we split into two groups of 12 people each—one with Ms. Patzner and one with Mr. Lemke.
The group with Mr. Lemke first went to the digital department and learned about Lufthansa Technik as a company, its activities in the digital field, and career opportunities at Lufthansa Technik. It was interesting to learn that both apprenticeships and dual study programs are offered. As a company, Lufthansa Technik appears very large and impressive, with more than €6 billion in revenue and over 20,000 employees—even though the topic was quite technical. Particularly cool was the digital department, which uses aircraft data and predictors to forecast future problems, helping to reduce flight cancellations and delays.
Ms. Patzner’s group started with the guided tour, which included a visit to a hangar as well as the engine test facility. The aircraft in the hangar—a Boeing 747-8—was especially impressive. It is the newest generation of the Jumbo Jet and the longest aircraft in the world (almost 80 meters), which had just been converted into a government or VIP aircraft.
After 90 minutes, the groups switched so that everyone could experience both the tour and the presentation. It was an exciting morning—thank you very much!
