Visit from Vaggeryd
On 7 October, we had the pleasure of welcoming 18 students, two male teachers, and one female teacher from Fenix kunskapscentrum in the small Swedish town of Vaggeryd to our school. Together with the introductory stage of our vocational grammar school, we arranged a full day of exchange activities. As the Swedish students are also enrolled in an economics-focused track at their upper-secondary school, the educational programmes proved to be remarkably similar.
The day began with a “speed-dating” session during which the guests engaged in lively conversations with learners from our economics class, quickly breaking the ice. Afterwards, the Swedish visitors were given the opportunity to sit in on a business administration lesson and gain insight into our learning culture. A selfie rally in mixed groups around the school grounds added an element of fun and created many shared memories.
Further opportunities to deepen connections and explore cultural differences—as well as similarities—arose during a joint lunch in the school canteen and a relaxed afternoon gathering over cake.
The visit showed our students just how enriching international encounters can be: they were able to put their English skills to practical use, discuss economic topics in a European context, and form new friendships. We are very much looking forward to continued collaboration with our Swedish partners!
