My Internship Abroad in Mallorca – A Personal Report
Hola!
My name is Ruta, and I am currently training to become a qualified insurance and financial services professional. During the third year of my apprenticeship, I had the unique opportunity to complete a four-week internship abroad on the sunny island of Mallorca – from June 2nd to June 27th, 2025. This internship was funded by Erasmus+. I worked in an insurance agency that primarily serves German-speaking clients – as do my colleagues, who are also originally from Germany.
A Glimpse into Professional Life
Throughout my internship, I was entrusted with a variety of interesting tasks. I prepared insurance quotes, translated documents, and accompanied my colleague to client meetings. One of the highlights was participating in client consultations at the office, during which insurance contracts were reviewed and finalized. These experiences allowed me not only to deepen my professional knowledge but also to gain valuable insights into the differences in claims processing and legal regulations between Spain and Germany.
Accommodation, Climate, and First Impressions
I stayed in a room in my colleague’s home, which gave me the chance to experience everyday life in Mallorca up close. The temperatures were high, the food was delicious, and I met many warm and welcoming people who made me feel right at home.
Working Where Others Go on Holiday
After work, I often spent my free time at the beach – the perfect way to unwind after a productive day. Although the internship was demanding, the beautiful surroundings made it feel anything but burdensome. The team atmosphere was very positive, my German colleagues were incredibly kind, and I quickly felt like part of the group.
Personal Growth and Looking Ahead
This internship helped me grow both personally and professionally. I gained not only technical insights but also learned how to adapt to a new environment and navigate unfamiliar situations.
I can wholeheartedly recommend an internship abroad to anyone – it’s a truly enriching experience that broadens your perspective.
Could I imagine living or working abroad in the future?
Absolutely – it’s definitely something I’m open to!
