Project “Living in the Future” with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS)
The Vocational School St. Pauli is conducting a project in cooperation with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation on the topic “Living in the Future.”
Two BHH classes and one IT class from the graduating year 2024 are currently working on a project in which students and trainees explore various topics related to future living. The prospective banking professionals are developing a complete financing concept for a self-selected property and, in the end, comparing financing and rental costs. Furthermore, the students reflect on and formulate economic and political conclusions on issues such as sustainability, affordability, access to home ownership, types of ownership, and ultimately derive necessary impulses for housing policy.
The trainees in the insurance sector are focusing on different types of insurance related to real estate and home ownership. In addition to the project kickoff on June 4, 2025, an expert lecture was held on July 2, 2025, by Jan Hennig Ipach (architect and managing director of coido GmbH) on the topic of construction costs. The construction expert presented to around 70 participants on the various causes behind rising construction costs.
Following the lecture, there was an active discussion session where project participants asked the speaker a wide range of questions related to the topic.
On July 8, the participating classes will submit their project results to their supervising teachers for evaluation. All trainees and students will receive both feedback and a certificate of participation. The best project results will be showcased at the Konrad Adenauer Foundation’s public conference “City. Country. Living space? – The Housing Congress for All” on October 16, 2025, in Berlin.
To this end, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation is inviting a total of 12 trainees and students to Berlin, covering accommodation and providing an exciting program. There, the selected participants will present their results at the “Marketplace of Opportunities” to an audience of policymakers, construction industry professionals, associations, and other guests. In addition, they are scheduled to participate in a panel discussion on “Homeownership as a Means of Wealth Creation” and join a guided tour of the German Bundestag.
We wish all participants the best of success with their project submissions and look forward to this exciting collaboration with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
