Animation in Motion: A Journey Through Short Films

As part of our lessons at BS11 AV-Dual (Class 24/6), we watched an intriguing series of short films centered around the theme of “movement.” Each film depicted movement in its own unique way—be it as physical transformation, inner change, or the connection between people and things.

The short film “Alienation” (2014) offered insights into the thoughts of teenagers, while “META” (2022) poetically explored the connections between all things. In “Mitch-Match” (2020), a matchstick ventured into a gym, humorously addressing physical transformation. The experimental film “1:1” (2001) showcased how images and sounds were painted directly onto film to create motion.

“Extraction” (2020) followed a diver navigating a surreal underwater world in search of self-discovery, while “Nashorn im Galopp” (2013) portrayed a young man’s journey through Berlin and his personal transformation. “Meine Baba und ich” (2023) examined the identity and connection of a young Romni with her grandmother amidst cultural change.

The films demonstrated in various ways how we can interpret movement in animations, inspiring us to reflect on transformation and connection in the world.
