A City Tour in Geography

On Thursday, October 10, 2024, our 13th-grade geography class from the Vocational Gymnasium St. Pauli took a field trip to Jungfernstieg, Domplatz, and Rathausplatz in Hamburg, accompanied by our geography teacher, Ms. Patzner.

As part of our semester topic, “Sustainability as a Challenge in the Age of Globalization,” we met with the speaker Tim, who introduced us to the theme “Brave New Cyber World!? – Global Justice on the Internet.”

Through interactive games, we learned more about the dominance of major internet corporations like Google and Meta, as well as the impact of our consumption habits on the environment and society. Key areas of focus included the ecological footprint of digitalization, data sovereignty, and fair working conditions.

Finally, we gained insights into data protection and had the opportunity to conduct personal data inquiries at Placormen. The excursion concluded at 4 p.m. at the town hall.

On behalf of the class, I would like to thank everyone for the opportunity to participate in this trip.
