Class trip to Amsterdam

Our class trip in Year 12 (BG27/2) took us to Amsterdam in the Netherlands. We had planned a four‑day stay and hoped for the best — and those four days, from June 1st to 4th, truly turned out to be the most wonderful time we spent together as a class.

Before departure we put together an itinerary for our stay in Amsterdam. After arriving on Monday afternoon, we first validated our travel tickets for the trip and then took the tram to the StayOkay Hostel Amsterdam Vondelpark, where we were accommodated. We spent the rest of the day on activities of our own choosing and exploring the hostel.

The first thing on the programme for the second day was a canal cruise. We set off at 10:30 and spent 90 minutes travelling through the centre of the Dutch city. The rainy weather created a cosy atmosphere; the rain stopped just as our boat tour ended. Afterwards we had lunch together at Ristorante Pizzeria Piccolino, and at around 5:30 pm we visited the Anne Frank House together, where we learned more about the story of the young girl.

With the help of an app we had the opportunity to explore Amsterdam more closely. We ate, had fun and strolled through flower‑decorated streets and across bridges. At about 1:00 pm we made our way to the Van Gogh Museum, where his most famous works and paintings are on display.

On Thursday it was finally time to say goodbye to the Netherlands. We enjoyed our last breakfast at StayOkay Hostel Vondelpark, packed our suitcases and set off for the train. The journey home was tinged with nostalgia, and I reflected on the whole experience once more.

Amsterdam, with its beautiful sights, was indeed the perfect place for our class trip.
