Class Trip of BG26/1 to Sylt (May 19–23, 2025)

Sea air, sandy beaches, and sunsets – who wouldn’t wish for that? We, the students of BG26/1, were fortunate enough to experience all of it during regular school hours.

What was likely our last official class trip took us to the island of Sylt. Choosing the destination was not easy at first – with so many different students came just as many different opinions and ideas about where the journey should go. Nevertheless, Sylt ultimately prevailed as a destination that appealed to everyone.

The journey there was straightforward and short – after all, Sylt isn’t far from Hamburg. However, our first doubts arose on the train, which was packed with primary school pupils. For a moment, we feared we might be sharing our class trip with them. Fortunately, that worry proved unfounded: upon arrival it became clear that the island offers age-appropriate activities for all, and we barely crossed paths with the younger travellers.

The trip was marked by joy, camaraderie, and lots of fun. Our programme included e-bike tours, beach walks, mudflat hikes, a visit to the local aquarium, and free time for personal exploration. The real highlights, however, were the evenings: shared games in the common room, sunsets on the beach, and the occasional beer.

One downside: the weather. We arrived to sunshine and warmth, but by the next day, strong winds at force 9 had set in. However, rain was rare, and it certainly didn’t dampen our spirits.

Even those who had been skeptical at the start agreed in the end: the trip was a complete success!

A special thank you goes to our class teachers, Ms. Wittenberg and Ms. Henze, whose calm presence and commitment ensured a relaxed and enjoyable class trip throughout.

In summary: a class trip like this one is truly one of a kind! — Marwan Sehili & Bennet Szameitat
